Children are part of the worshiping community at
St. Stephen's, and as such, they may participate in
the sanctuary during any of our services.
Sunday mornings:
8:30 Informal, traditional service
9:45 Sunday School for all ages
11:00 Traditional service
Our youngest children (birth through 3 yrs.) may stay in the sanctuary with their parents or
guardians or may enjoy age-appropriate play with our loving caregivers in the nursery. The nursery is
located in the Education Building. You may pick up a pager if you would like for us to be able to reach
you during the morning.
Children may pick up a Worship Bag to use during either service. They are available at the back of
the sanctuary; one set for younger children and one for older children. Our volunteer re-stocks the
bags weekly with coloring pages, puzzles, crayons, and other things to use while sitting in the pews. At
the end of the service, simply return the bag to the basket, and we'll get it ready for the next week.
Wee Worship is offered at both Sunday morning services for children ages 4 through 2nd grade.
Children begin in the sanctuary so that they may participate with the community praying, singing
hymns, saying the creeds, offering our gifts, and hearing Scripture read. They join our pastor at the
front for Children's Time, and then leave with a Wee Worship volunteer for their own
age-appropriate worship time. The volunteer will bring the children back into the sanctuary during the
closing hymn. On Communion Sundays, they will return in time to take communion with their families.
Children 2nd grade and older may serve as acolytes during either service. Our acolyte coordinator
will offer training whenever we have children ready to begin serving.

Three children's choirs sing on a regular schedule during both services:
Cherub Choir is for children in Pre-K through Kindergarten. This choir
rehearses on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:00 right at the beginning of
Sunday School.
